Visio Analyzer
Many companies have already been using Visio for process modelling for many years. Nevertheless, due to the fact that Visio can define a method in many different ways and is missing some other ways, the resulting models are to a great degree very non-uniform.
As a result, individual models provided from different working groups and departments do not often fit together. They form no suitable basis for the establishment of comprehensive business process management. Also, the further use of such models in other tools (e.g., simulation, workflow management systems or BPMS) is no longer possible in the absence of a defined notation.
Extensive knowledge about the processes of the company is still in the available models. To be able to use this knowledge further, it is helpful to convert the models into methods-compliant models (e.g., EPKs). BPM-X Converter can help with the conversion.
For the preparation of the necessary transformation rules, moreover, one must know which symbols were used in the Visio files, and how these were connected with each other. The Visio Analyzer finds out this. It checks the Visio files to be moved and provides a method definition. Then, afterwards, in the Mapping Editor, one only needs to provide the elements of the target method in which the different symbols and borders should be moved.
